Lot 762 Mauser 1935 'Chilean' 7x57mm #5659

‘Mauser Banner’ Pre-WWII Carabinieros de Chile contract bolt action service rifle chambered in 7x57mm, manufactured in Germany by Mauser circa 1935. Imported by Sarco Inc of Sterling, N.J. with small import marks on the barrel near the bayonet lug. Features a high luster blued finish with the trigger, bolt release and screws finished in bright nitre blue, 22” barrel, shrouded inverted ‘v’ front sight, tangent rear sight graduated to 1,400 meters, bayonet lug, cleaning rod, two barrel bands, in-the-white bolt with turned-down handle & three position safety on the rear, rounded trigger, internal 5 round box magazine with removable floorplate, brown leather sling with saddle ring on the rear swivel, smooth wood handguard and semi-pistol grip shoulder stock with metal stock disk & smooth metal buttplate. The receiver ring in stamped “CHILE/[crossed rifles]/ORDEN Y PATRIA/MODELO 1935” and the left side of the buttstock is marked with an ornate Chilean crest cartouche, boxed “1935” and “CIAE” in a circle. Matching serial numbers are found on the receiver, bolt handle, bolt sleeve, safety, cocking piece, bolt release, rear sight, both barrel bands, cleaning rod and floorplate. Rifle retains approximately 94% of its original bright blued finish showing light handling wear on the bottom metal, a couple of rubs on the barrel and front band. Action is smooth, the bore is excellent/bright, strong rifling and the wood stocks are very good with minor blemishes.
